Upper ball joint Moog failed at 40,000 miles drive

Hi all

I have a 2005 GMC Envoy 4.2 L v6 I replaced both upper and lower ball joints both front wheel bearings and outer tie rods all parts are Moog. Since I replaced the parts the parts 3 years ago. I put 40,000 miles on the parts. Now both upper wheel bearings are bad. Is there a up grade I should do or anyone have any suggestions?

Upper wheel bearings or upper ball joints? Moog is good stuff, but they too have a economy line aimed at competing with white-box aftermarket. Stick with the premium line stuff. It's possible you just got a defective unit.

Got one better put Moog upper ball joints in on a 07 Denali pass side lasted 11K miles driver lasted 15K only reason Moog told me after returning them for replacement is they worn prematurely. I scraped them and installed Pro Forge ball joints ones and MEVOTECH lower control arms I had put in the same time the moogs were installed. 20k on them no problems so far. Moog isn't like it used to be Iv been told. Good luck

Jack it up just to clear tire off ground put a bar under wheel if it moves up and downline in and out to you and engine then top is bad or bottom or both. I disassembled mine and when I took it out I can hold it and shake it like a Christmas bell very loose under 10K should not happen OEM ones were in for 80K

Ac Delco has 3 series, 1 Advantage is cheap, Ac Delco Professional Line Is reg Grade and GM OEM is the top what came with the truck, that's why I got 80K out of mine

I replaced the ball joints upper and lower and wheel bearings on drivers and passenger side.

With the car on the ground I can feel and the upper ball joint slip when I shake when shake the top of drivers and passenger tire

I called advanced auto they told me it’s wear and tear not covered by limited life time warranty .

Of course it's convenient for them to say. Rock Auto Pro Forge they were like 43.00 a piece, you won't be disappointed or order the OEM ones from the dealer there around 74.00 a piece I got 80 K out of OEM ones. Good luck
