Will a Rear Diff. Lock improve the Off-Road capability of my 2WD 03 Envoy?

I'm wanting to build the most capable machine I can out of my first vehicle, which is my 03 Envoy, but it only has the 2WD Drivetrain. I was wondering If there were rear diff. locks that could help increase the performance of my vehicle while it is off-road. I don't have any intentions of rock climbing or anything intense (2WD really wouldn't be good for any of that in the first place), but would still like to see the best performance that I can out of the vehicle. If you know where I can pick one up please let me know. And if it's not a good idea, then please let me know as well lol. Getting a 4x4 version is not an option for me at the moment.

A G80 locker was an option that came on some of the gmt360/370 vehicles. I have a trailblazer ext that has it in the rear. They certainly help offroad and I can't think of anything negative about installing it. Except maybe the upfront price of it?

Explanation of how a locking rear diff works. I thought this was pretty cool.

I was not sure, but I thought that they came standard with locking rear differentials, unless you have the SS, in which case it's a rear limited slip. I guess I'd say that my '08 LT 4.2L has a rear locker 3.42...that I hope to changed to a 4.10 locker or limited slip. I wasn't sure if both types of limited slips/lockers are RPO Code "G80".
