Got a 06 TB ls 4x4 83k i just bought with a bad trans do to a leaky line resulting in loss of od. I just finished pulling trans and noticed the torque converter says remfd for GM motors...? My question is does GM use reman parts or could this possibly of been a fix? everything looked untouched.

NEW convertors come wrapped inside a NEW transmission, inside a NEW vehicle.

For the record - GM does NOT rebuild their convertors.

My shop used to rebuild Ford and GM convertors (complete transmissions actually) and we stamped them as manufacturer's rebuilds under our license. We put them in GM or Ford or Chrysler poly shipping containers and palletized them and out they went via shippers' trucking.

The silly part was that we were only allowed to install factory parts even though I had shelves of vastly superior parts for those transmissions - especially the Chrysler/Dodge units with their powdered metal planetary gears and input shafts that constantly failed.

Job security!
